Our 2017 Best Barrels Right Bank
Blend is a distinctive celebration of the Blue Rock Estate like no other wine
we produce. Inspired by some of the world-famous wines of St. Emilion and
Pomerol, we wanted to showcase the art of blending and highlight why these
varietals are historically planted together. 57% Cabernet Franc, 38% Merlot and
5% Cabernet Sauvignon has produced a singular and spectacular wine that defies
comparison and stands alone in our proud Best Barrels lineup.
Winemaker's Tasting Notes
Everything about this wine
proclaims distinction. It's beautiful medium-ruby-red shine, the seductive
aromatic blend of spicy, savory and fruity; when smelling a wine gives you a
powerful sense of its balance and structure, crossing over sensory lines from
aroma to texture, you know you have something special. Reds and black fruits,
combined with herbs, earth, mocha, a subtle suggestion of allspice, and the
most glorious silky texture all in perfect harmony. We bottled a mere 138 cases
of this Best Barrels wine and all wish we could have an entire case to
ourselves!
Food Affinities
Broad in its potential for
companions at the table, you can build a successful meal around beef, game,
rabbit, poultry, even a beautiful filet of fatty salmon. Perhaps key here is to
avoid overly complicated or heavy sauces so as to let the marriage of the
finest ingredients and wine enjoy center stage.
Ageability
The refined structure, silky texture and overall balance of
this wonderful wine ensure it a long and happy cellar life. Prime drinking
should begin in late 2020 and continue to bring immense pleasure for another
20+ years.
