Winemaker's Tasting Notes
An iconic translucent, pale ruby in the glass, the nose on this
Pinot will instantly seduce you if you're a fan of both the fruity and
the savory sides of Pinot Noir like all of us here at Blue Rock. Bright
cherry and ripe cranberry aromas are complexed by a perfume of rose
petals, cloves, green tea and mint. Following right in step, snappy red
fruit flavors are both countered and complimented by a beautiful mix of
cinnamon, nutmeg, sweet and savory rhubarb, oregano and bay leaf. It's a
perfect yin yang of aromas and flavors that demonstrates why dedicated
farmers work so hard to grow this finicky grape. And why collectors work
so hard to find their favorites!
Food Affinities
If ever a wine could be enjoyed with just about any food, this is
it. But some of our preferred pairings would include seared salmon,
roasted guineafowl, hoisin crispy duck, grilled lamb with herbs and
fennel, anything with wild mushrooms, plus dishes accented with
cherries, figs or dried cranberries. Coq au vin made with Pinot Noir
would also be a fantastic combo. It's hard to go wrong, so be
adventurous and enjoy the yum!
Ageability
2020 is an inviting vintage right out of the gate. If you are in a
hurry, be sure to give it a couple weeks after it arrives at your door,
then enjoy anytime you like! Prime drinking should be from now through
2026.
